Meet the Team 2012

Sam - Owner

Sam is the owner of Tantrum Kitesurf. Since leaving his job as an officer in the Royal Marines (don't worry he's really not the shouty type!) he's embarked upon a career devoted to watersports and the psychology of teaching. After cutting his teeth running a water sports centre in France he arrived in Tarifa one winter he took up kitesurfing and has never looked back.

During his time here he has co-founded a company running 4x4 kitesurf adventures to Morocco and has been teaching kitesurfing for 7 years as a fully qualified IKO kitesurfing instructor, almost exclusively on the beaches of Tarifa and the Costa de la Luz.

An expert on training, human communication and kitesurfing instruction he has written articles for many kitesurfing publications while maintaining several highly respected blogs on kitesurfing and kitesurfing instruction.

Maria - Centre Manager

A fairly recent addition to the kitesurfing and Tarifa family, Maria has certainly made her dent in it's universe. Whether it's showing off one of her ever increasing repertoire of tricks on the water, or showing off her repertoire of dance moves on the bar of some club, she'll keep you entertained all day and her love of kitesurfing and life in general is infectious, as is her love of shots and cheap wine!

A bundle of energy, she'll keep you motivated all day at the beach. Just for the love of God don't get her started talking about the Rugby...especially if you're English!

Alex - Instructor

For the last 5 years Alex has been teaching and practicing kitesurfing all over the world (Baja, Mexico - Dakhla, Morocco to name some of his most recent trips). He is highly experienced at getting people from zero to hero and is truly one of the friendliest instructors on the beach.

An awesomely dedicated kitesurfer, and well known in Tarifa for being one of the guys who goes truly aerial when he jumps, just watch him on the water, it's impressive. All we ask is that you please look after him if he says he's going kitesurfing in the lunch break though...he tends to break himself!

Tim - Instructor/Photographer

Probably our most experienced instructor, Tim has been teaching in Tarifa for the last 4 years and knows the conditions and the beaches like the back of his hand. With a great laid back style and confidence inspiring knowledge, he'll have you up and riding in no time.

Tim's also our in house photographer and father of the official Tantrum mascot Lupa, who you'll meet and fall in love with instantly.

Anna - Instructor/Admin

Kitesurfing for 5 years Anna is one of Tarifa's local girl kitesurifng stars and is good enough to give most of the blokes a run for their money (if not beat them entirely on the water!). An IKO Instructor for 2 years now she's got loads of kitesurfing experience and a friendly, caring manner on the beach.

She's also my bird...so hands off gents!! ;)
